GMail Advertising

One of the best ways of getting quick traffic is Pay-Per-Click (PPC) traffic; frequently called “paid traffic”.

You’ve probably seen all the e-mail flying around lately from “everyone” about advertising with Google’s GMail (this is done with Google AdWords).

You may have wondered what it was all about.

You may have even watched the teaser video from Ryan Deiss and have some ideas of what it’s about.

Well, last Monday, January 11, 2010, I watched the full video from Ryan, not the publicly available one, and I must say I was super excited; in fact, I immediately contacted my main business partner and took her away from the stuff she was doing to babble on like a baby on how great this was — fortunately, after listening to my … shall we say enthused … explanation of it, she agreed it sounded awesome.

I hadn’t seen anything as new and interesting in quite a while — I’m actually not sure how long — this was accidental innovation at its best!

What to know more about it, well then read on…
Basically, Ryan found out that about half of his traffic was coming from Google’s GMail.

He had the same reaction you probably had!

That really surprised him and so he did some investigation and a lot of testing and found some great ways to use GMail to get very targeted traffic; very targeted and desparate to buy.

He’s broken it down into 4 main section/types:

  1. Thought Stringing
  2. Reader Leads
  3. Competition Killing
  4. My Ninja Voodoo Tactic

Now I don’t want to give you a lot of details because it isn’t fair to Ryan as he is selling a product to tell you how to do it (called GMail Mind Tricks) but I can tell you a little bit more about it.

Thought Stringing

This is a way of selecting keywords to bid on. Without spilling the beans I will say that it is VERY different than normal keyword research (in general or research for AdWords).

He defines 3 primary ways to find those keywords:

  1. Hidden Desires
  2. Pain and Frustrations
  3. Common Market Vernacular

While those don’t necessarily seem different than what you might do with regular keyword research, they use the fact that the ads appear in GMail (and what that means) to find very targeted buyers.

Reader Leads

This is a way of selecting keywords to bid on that is specific to certain types of GMail; ones you read for the content or that are information related.

These could be e-mail relating to books, articles, movies, software, e-zines, etc.

Competition Killing

This section shows you how to select keywords for advertising related e-mails and how you can get your competitors to advertise for YOU!!!

This was really innovative and, if done right, it truly would mean that your competitors would be advertising for you.

Ninja Voodoo Tactic

The final section is Ryan’s “secret weapon” and something not many people would think about.

If you thought the previous section had your competitors advertising for you, this one does the same thing times two.

Conclusion

While it isn’t fair to divulge too much detail and lose Ryan sales — I know neither of us would want someone else giving away a hot product we’d created and were selling — I hope I’ve given you some sense of what this is all about.

Advertising on GMail may actually be the least expensive and most effective method of pay-per-click (PPC) traffic currently available.

The interesting thing is, it seems easier to do than regular AdWords and PPC.

I am still testing it so I can’t say personally how well it works but it looks to have tremendous potential and it really is a new and exciting way to get really targted buyers to your Web properties.

You should ABSOLUTELY look into this, it has the possiblity to make a huge difference if the quality of your traffic.
